What Is Intentional Art-Making?

Intentional art-making: using an art practice to embody your desires, raise your consciousness and expand into your magnetic self.

Intentional art-making is the practice of making art with intention. It helps us to reconnect to our true self, to get clear about what we actually want, and to recognise and dismantle the ways in which we limit ourselves. And it helps us to create coherence between what we say we want and what we actually do.

It is more than creating art, it's an opportunity to connect to our inner world; to explore and heal.

Intentional art…

…embodies the energy of what you want to experience more of in life.

…does not have to be ‘good’ or look beautiful.

…helps you to recognise and release limiting beliefs as you create.

…helps you to process emotions as you encounter on the canvas what is mirrored in your life.

…expresses your hopes and desires.

…does not have to ‘go’ anywhere.  It’s not about creating a masterpiece!

…helps you to listen to your inner goddess.

…connects you to the intuitive mind (aka intuition, trust in the unknown, connection).

…connects you to infinite possibilities on the canvas and infinite possibilities in your life.

…activates your creator self, empowering you to create the art that is your life.

How do you do it?

There are lots of different ways really, but it’s all about creating with intention.

Perhaps you want to experience more joy in your life.  So you get quiet and drop into a space of feeling the possibility of feeling more joy, then you create a visual expression of it on the canvas or art-journal or whatever medium you’re using.

As you’re creating you aim to maintain a connection with the experience of having achieved your desires. When you have finished the piece you will have created something that will remind you of the space of possibility that you opened up when you created it. It will help you to step into the future you who has manifested what you desire.

Or maybe you want to heal something.  So you represent this pain on the canvas, and then you drop into a space of love and compassion as you continue to intuitively create, asking for this pain to be healed.

Or perhaps you’re feeling a stuckness or lack of clarity. So you go to the canvas to connect inwards, intuitively creating and looking for answers in your creation.  It’s amazing how your subconscious can provide the answers you need when you open up space for inner expression.

I keep a notebook nearby so that I can take note of any feelings, resistance or revelations that arise while I’m creating.  Everything is information!

The medium is up to you… collage, paint, stitch, drawing; whatever enables you to express yourself. I LOVE working with art journals, paint and collage.

Here are some of my creations…
